Fitment and purpose

This shock cap and end adaptor is made to interface with the YR-X12 pitching damper assembly, providing a direct-fit replacement or alternate end adaptor that defines the damper's top mounting point and end position inside the shock tower or linkage.

As a direct-fit option for YR-X12 marked dampers, installers should verify thread engagement and seating before completing assembly. Standard fitting involves basic shock disassembly, aligning the cap to the damper body, and checking that the piston and spacer stack move freely through the full travel.

From a setup perspective, swapping the cap or end adaptor changes the damper end geometry and mounting height, which affects pitching behaviour and chassis pitch control. Use this part when altering end fittings, changing damper styles, or adjusting linkage geometry to refine pitch response.

Installation notes

  • Remove the original cap to access the shock internals, then install the YX-40C cap/adaptor, confirming correct thread engagement and seating.
  • After reassembly, cycle the shock through full travel to ensure there is no binding at the new end position.
  • If the end geometry is altered, re-check damper stroke and spring preload to suit your chassis setup.
Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
This item is specified for use with YR-X12 pitching dampers; always confirm dimensional fit before trying it on other damper designs.
No specialised tools are required beyond typical shock service tools and a hex driver to remove and tighten the shock cap.
Yes. Replacing the cap or end adaptor can change end geometry and mounting height, so expect some difference in pitching behaviour and plan to retune accordingly.
