The Yokomo YS-8-142 F. Shock Piston is a replacement piston made for off-road shock assemblies. It modifies internal oil flow inside the damper body to help refine rebound and compression characteristics without changing other shock parts.
Fitting is straightforward for those familiar with threaded shock bodies: strip the shock, remove the shaft and spring, swap in the piston, then reassemble using the same seals and shock oil grade you normally run. Small alterations in piston size or port count change how oil moves through the piston, so this part is best used to tune mid-range and low-speed damping rather than as an overall performance overhaul.
Adopt a step-by-step tuning routine: make one change at a time, test on a representative surface, note handling differences, and only then try different oil weights or springs. That approach keeps setup changes predictable and repeatable.
