YS-4L-8 Rear Damper: Service Overview

The Yokomo YS-4L-8 R. Shock Body is a scale replacement component made for rear damper assemblies on off-road R/C models. It serves as the outer housing that locates internal damper parts and helps preserve repeatable piston travel and reliable seal positioning.

Fit this part when a shock body is worn, cracked, or when you need to swap components during suspension setup. Typical service steps apply: drain the shock oil, remove the cap and shaft assembly, transfer internal components carefully, and confirm O-rings and seals seat correctly before refilling. This component is designed solely for R/C models and should not be represented as suitable for full-size vehicles.

For tuning, the body improves serviceability and inspection of piston movement; it does not change piston diameter or valving by itself but supports consistent assembly during iterative tuning. On reassembly, check for burrs, ensure O-rings are correctly seated, and verify shaft clearance to minimise leakage and maintain consistent damping.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Fitment depends on the specific chassis and shock variant; confirm that the YS-4L-8 form factor matches your shock before buying.
No special equipment is needed beyond standard damper service tools and a hex driver for the caps, plus a clean workspace and the shock oil you intend to use.
Regularly inspect O-rings and pistons for wear, use clean oil during each service, and check shaft straightness to preserve repeatable damping behavior.
