Pitching Damper Shaft & Piston Overview

This YOKYX40S shaft and piston set is an aftermarket pitching damper component from Yokomo intended for use with YRX-12 pitching dampers. It replaces worn shaft or piston elements to restore predictable stroke behavior and maintain consistent damper response during acceleration and braking on track.

Installation is straightforward for those familiar with shock service: remove the pitching damper from the chassis, disassemble the damper following your chassis service procedure, swap in the new shaft and piston, then reassemble using your existing seals and chosen oil. Keep parts clean and confirm the piston moves freely through its travel before refitting the damper.

In tuning terms this part affects flow characteristics rather than spring rate. Changing the shaft or piston alters mid-stroke damping feel, so fit a replacement that matches your piston hole count and oil viscosity to preserve baseline handling and repeatable pitch control.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
The YOKYX40S is specified for YRX-12 pitching dampers; verify the damper dimensions on your unit to ensure correct fit before installation.
No special equipment is required beyond common shock service tools and a clean workspace; basic hand tools are sufficient for disassembly and reassembly.
A replacement piston restores consistent damping. To keep handling predictable, use the same piston hole count and oil viscosity you ran previously.
