25wt Ultra Shock Oil — Suspension tuning notes

The Yokomo YOKRP-085250 Ultra Shock Oils #25 Racing Performer is an RC-scale silicone shock fluid used to set and refine damping characteristics in silicone-filled shock absorbers.

Used as a tuning liquid, its job is to alter rebound and compression behavior by changing the oil viscosity inside the shock body; this lets you shape how the suspension reacts to different surfaces and driver inputs without modifying mechanical components.

When servicing shocks, follow a clean process: fully drain the previous fluid, examine pistons, seals and shafts for wear, then refill with the chosen viscosity and test in repeatable conditions. Keep a setup log of viscosities and handling notes to build reliable baseline settings.

Select viscosities in small steps during setup runs, pair oil changes with spring and shock position adjustments, and evaluate each change incrementally on a test surface to isolate the oil's effect on vehicle behavior.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Begin by removing the shocks from the car, depressurize and drain the old oil, clean internal parts, inspect for wear, then refill carefully with 25wt and bleed air before reinstalling. Test with the same tyres and track conditions for accurate comparison.
A 25wt offers a balance between quick response and controlled damping; you may notice crisper rebound and slightly firmer compression compared with lighter oils, but results depend on springs and shock geometry.
Keep a change log, run back-to-back laps, and only alter one variable at a time. That method lets you attribute handling differences directly to the oil change.
