The RD-630BK is a lightweight spur gear hub engineered for use with Yokomo RD, SD, and MD drift platforms. Its larger diameter increases the contact area with the spur gear, helping to stabilise rotation and cut vibration during steady throttle and steering inputs.
Because this hub locates the spur gear closer to the gear case than some earlier hubs, load on the top shaft is reduced under sudden acceleration, creating a firmer, more direct drive feel. When replacing series-standard hubs such as Y4-630A, Y2-630PA, or Y2-630RA the set-screw fixing position differs from previous parts.
For chassis that need the alternate fixing position, Yokomo recommends the RD-631 top shaft to ensure correct set-screw alignment and secure installation. The RD-630BK is a hop-up focused on improving spur engagement and drivetrain feedback rather than changing gear ratios.
As a direct drop-in hop-up for compatible Yokomo drift chassis, the RD-630BK concentrates on better spur hold and lower vibration; pair it with the RD-631 top shaft when replacing earlier hubs that use a different set-screw position.
