HVF shock shaft optimised for BD9

The Yokomo B9-S5SHVFA HVF shock shaft is a 19.1mm RC shock shaft finished with a heavy fluorine surface treatment to lower friction and extend service life. Developed in collaboration with AXON, the component targets minimal bearing and seal resistance to deliver a smoother damper action on BD9 series touring car chassis.

On track this shaft reduces stick-slip at the sliding interface so the shock assembly responds to small inputs with greater consistency, helping traction while you fine tune damping. Long-term testing by the development team showed improved durability compared with prior surface finishes.

Packing includes

  • Shock shafts - 4 pcs

Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Installation follows standard BD9 shock rebuild steps: remove the damper body, extract the old shaft and piston, fit the new B9-S5SHVFA shaft with correct seals and rebuild in the original order. No special proprietary tools are required beyond common hobby tools.
The pack includes four heavy fluorine coated shock shafts, ready to replace the shafts in a standard BD9 shock set.
Yes, the heavy fluorine surface reduces wear from seals and sliding parts, which the development team observed as better longevity versus older coatings during endurance trials.
After fitting, check piston movement for free travel and confirm seal seating. Because friction is lower, you may need to slightly adjust damping or oil grade to retain your preferred rebound and bump feel.
