A 1:350 scale rendition of the Ka-31 HELIX shipborne airborne early-warning helicopter, supplied as a multi-sprue plastic kit intended for experienced modelers and collectors.
The actual Ka-31 evolved from Kamov coaxial-rotor designs and carries a large surveillance radar to extend a fleet's detection range against aerial and surface threats. It has been operated from various surface combatants and amphibious vessels to boost situational awareness at sea.
This kit captures the helicopter at a size suited to 1:350 ship dioramas. The set includes six sprues and ninety plastic parts, producing a finished fuselage approximately 41.8 mm long and 40.1 mm wide. Molding emphasis is on external paneling and major airframe contours rather than interior appointments; careful handling of small parts and standard plastic-model tools and adhesives is recommended.
Build notes: allow staged subassembly for the rotor mast and radar array, apply thin washes and fine brushwork to highlight radar and sensor detail, and consider aftermarket photo-etch or fine thread to enhance antenna and tie-downs if you need extra fidelity. No decals are provided, so markings will need paint or custom decal work.
A compact Ka-31 HELIX interpretation designed for inclusion in 1:350 naval displays; the parts count and footprint suit builders concentrating on external likeness and deck placement.
