This 1:700 static plastic model reproduces the French Navy battleship Richelieu as refitted in 1946, supplied for display builders who want either a waterline or full-hull finish.
Richelieu was launched in January 1939 and experienced a varied wartime service, including operations from Dakar in 1940 before rejoining Allied forces in 1942. A January 1943 refit at Brooklyn Navy Yard enhanced her radar and anti-aircraft armament, replacing earlier 37mm and 13.2mm guns with 40mm Bofors and 20mm Oerlikons. In early 1944 she operated with the British Home Fleet off Norway and later participated in actions against Japan prior to returning to French control after World War II.
Notes for builders: the kit is aimed at experienced hobbyists and collectors and includes multiple sprues plus separate hull and deck assemblies to support either a waterline display or a full-hull construction. Decal choices match the postwar paint and markings used when Richelieu returned to French ports in 1946. Modelers should consult period photographs to select paints and final detailing appropriate to the 1946 refit.
A compact and accurate 1:700 Richelieu kit offering both waterline and full-hull presentation for display-focused modelers and small collections.
