The Hawker Sea Hawk entered Royal Navy service in the early 1950s and carried out carrier trials with 806 Squadron at Brawdy in 1953. Early marks used earlier engines, while later airframes received the more powerful Nene 103 which improved ground-attack capability and permitted external loads. A total of 434 Sea Hawks were built for the Royal Navy, with front-line service continuing through 1960 and export operators using the type into the 1980s. The FGA.6 variant incorporated the Nene Mk.103 upgrade and was built in limited numbers during the mid 1950s. Service figures include a length of 12.09 m, a wingspan of 11.89 m and a top speed close to 962 km/h.
As a scale kit the focus is on accurate exterior lines and typical service fit rather than extensive cockpit rework. The assembled model measures about 249 mm fuselage length and 245 mm wingspan at 1:48, making it suitable for carrier deck or hangar dioramas at common display scales. The box contents include one photo-etched fret to refine certain openings and an instrument panel film to show dial faces where printed parts are not provided.
