Reinforced CVD kit for Xmaxx performance

This replacement CVD set is made for Traxxas Xmaxx 8S applications where increased rpm and torque demand tougher driveline components. The design uses hardened steel #45 for core drive parts and revised joint geometry to improve stability at high rotational speeds.

The package replaces dogbone-style pieces with thicker hard-steel parts, increasing the dogbone section from 5.5mm to 7mm as supplied, and changes the CVD-to-hex interface to a stainless steel pin through a perforated joint rather than the original fastening method. These updates reduce runout and help keep the wheel hex secure under heavy throttle and high-speed runs.

Installation notes: the set includes alloy hex adapters and requires basic drivetrain disassembly to replace front or rear CVDs. Maintain tight tolerances and check hub to hex alignment to avoid premature wear on bearings and gear interfaces. This is sold as an aftermarket upgrade for RC use only.

Packing includes

  • Hex Adapter - 4pcs
  • Stainless Steel Screw Shaft M5x4x20 - 4pcs
  • Set Screws 5x5 - 4pcs

Compatible Models

  • Traxxas Xmaxx 8S

This GPM TXM8170N/2 CVD set provides a hardened-steel aftermarket option for Traxxas Xmaxx 8S owners wanting stronger hex retention and reduced driveline flex; perform standard drivetrain checks when fitting.

They are specified for use on Traxxas Xmaxx 8S and are supplied to suit front or rear installation; confirm orientation and hub interface before assembly.
The kit uses hardened steel #45 with a thicker dogbone section, increasing resistance to torsion and reducing the chance of deformation at high rpm.
Standard RC maintenance tools and a hex driver set are sufficient; check set screw torque and confirm the stainless pin is fully seated in the hex joint.
Inspect for wear at the joins, verify set screw torque after initial runs, and make sure the hex retention pin remains secure to prolong component life under high-speed use.
