Rear gearbox steel upgrade for BB-01

This aftermarket transmission gear set is made for the TAMIYA BBX BB-01 1/10 chassis and replaces the factory nylon drivetrain gears with hardened 40Cr steel teeth to improve wear life under repetitive load. The design matches the BB-01 rear transmission layout for a direct swap where mounting points are unchanged.

The kit supplies the main transmission gears plus a copper collar that fits into the gear stack, delivered as a small parts set intended for the BB-01 rear gearbox. The arrangement is three gear pcs and one copper collar, keeping the original part layout for straightforward replacement.

Installation and setup tips: when fitting steel gears in place of nylon, confirm correct mesh clearance, inspect gearbox bearings for wear, ensure the copper collar is seated properly, and spin the assembly by hand to check for smooth rotation before full-power runs. Steel teeth change contact and wear characteristics, so perform a low speed test run and recheck mesh after initial bedding in.

Compatible Models

  • TAMIYA-1/10 BBX BB-01 CHASSIS-58719

For owners wanting a tougher rear transmission than stock nylon, the 40Cr steel gear set provides a direct-fit aftermarket upgrade for the BB-01 when fitted with careful mesh adjustment and routine inspection.

Perfect craftmanship, perfect Parts and very fast shipping! Excelent!
The package contains three transmission gear pcs and one copper collar intended for the BB-01 rear gearbox stack.
Not always, but inspect existing bearings for play or roughness and replace any worn bearings to avoid accelerated wear on the new steel gears.
Start with a slightly looser mesh than the original nylon setup, then tighten incrementally while checking for smooth rotation and no binding under hand rotation.
The 40Cr steel teeth increase durability compared to nylon, but monitor drivetrain behavior after installation and perform break-in runs before extended or heavy-duty use.
