Black Saber Premium with Super-II racing chassis

The Tamiya 95451 Black Saber Premium brings a fully-cowled 1/32 body together with the proven Super-II chassis to deliver a compact racer for hobbyists and track competitors. The Super-II layout adds reinforced bumpers and an adjustable rear stay for improved stability, while a screw-secured cover keeps components locked in during high-speed laps.

Construction and styling details

This kit uses sturdy black ABS for both body and chassis to balance toughness and weight. The A-parts are molded in Light Smoke for a subtle smoked finish, and refreshed metallic stickers echo the classic Black Saber look to give the model a polished race-ready appearance.

Tuning options and on-track behaviour

The model ships with a Type 130 motor and a 3.5:1 gear ratio tailored for competitive Mini 4WD racing. It rides on black Y-spoke wheels fitted with red low-profile tyres, and a selection of Grade-Up Parts is sold separately for builders wanting to refine speed, handling, or durability.

  • Scale: 1/32
  • Overall length: 150 mm
  • Overall width: 97 mm
  • Body material: ABS plastic
  • Chassis material: ABS plastic
  • Motor type: Type 130
  • Requires: Two AA batteries (sold separately)
For twisty tracks raise the rear stay slightly to improve cornering clearance; lower and stiffen it for fast, straight layouts to maintain stability. Test small changes and record results so you can dial in the best setting for each track.
Use fresh, high-drain AA cells for consistent power. The stock Type 130 is balanced for the 3.5:1 gear ratio, and swapping to performance motors should be paired with gearing and tyre changes to avoid overloading the drive train.
Start with upgraded rollers and low-friction bearings to stabilise cornering, then move to lighter wheels or tuned suspension parts if available. Prioritise parts that address your biggest handling issue first.
