This 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit reproduces the Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 late model, issued as a research-informed release within the Tamiya 1/48 aircraft series.
The Messerschmitt Bf109 served as a principal German single-engine fighter in World War II, built in large numbers and operated on multiple fronts. The G-6 variant, appearing in mid-1943, is noted for the Beule nose bulge, the Erla Haube reduced-frame canopy for improved visibility, and from August 1943 many machines carried 21 cm rocket launchers under the wings. The G-6 remained in frontline use through the end of the conflict.
The kit recreates late-model external characteristics based on documented references. New engine cowlings replicate the Beule nose bulge and right-side air scoop, and they are designed to be built open or closed and exchanged. A new transparent Erla Haube canopy is supplied and can be fitted open or closed. Additional parts include the canopy center rearview mirror and cover, main landing gear bay doors with cloth covers removed, and wing-mounted 21 cm rocket launchers with their pylons. The instructions contain a color painting guide and decals for four marking choices, including the aircraft flown by Hermann Graf. The kit can be assembled as an early model, a late model, or a mixed configuration. Fuselage length and wingspan are listed in the specifications below.
A research-informed 1/48 kit that captures late-model Bf109 G-6 external features and offers multiple assembly options, ideal for display-focused builders and collectors.
