Tamiya 60318 Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Fighter Model 52 - Collector Overview

The Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Fighter Model 52 in 1/32 scale shows Tamiya's focus on precision and historical accuracy. This kit recreates the silhouette and key details of the wartime fighter, letting builders assemble a faithful replica of a defining Pacific Theater aircraft.

Design, powerplant and combat role

The A6M5 Zero served as a frontline fighter late in World War II, refined for better handling with a slightly shortened wingspan and streamlining improvements. Its Nakajima Sakae engine and the characteristic rounded wingtips are faithfully represented in this model, along with the prominent 20mm cannon mounts visible on the airframe.

Model Features and Craftsmanship

Tamiya packs this kit with refined cockpit detail, separate control surfaces and realistic metal components for the 20mm cannons and pitot. Builders will find pre-painted machine gun barrels and photo-etched parts that lift the finish, while movable rudder and flaps add pose options for display.

Great service, excellent communication, some of the lowest prices on the internet and can't fault there shipping really. Overall great place to purchase from and will definitely use again in the future.
The kit is best suited to modelers with intermediate skills or above. Delicate photo-etched parts and metal fittings require steady hands and basic experience with adhesives and fine tools.
Use solvent-based model cement for plastic joins and CA glue for metal-to-plastic fittings. For finishes, enamel or acrylic hobby paints matched to period colors give the most authentic result.
Consider a simple diorama base or a clear stand to show the moveable control surfaces. Seal decals with a clear coat and avoid direct sunlight to preserve paint and markings.
