ME Chassis Jr Tyxiv (Tamiya 18664) Overview
The Jr Tyxiv body, developed with an external design partner, is supplied as a 1/32 Mini 4WD assembly kit mounted on the ME chassis. The shell is low and compact, prioritizing aerodynamic lines and offering a tinted canopy or a removable open-top cockpit; the canopy can be removed to accept a driver figure or to create a traditional open appearance. Interchangeable front and rear fender sections allow the kit to use the supplied small-diameter tires or, after swapping the fender parts, separately sold large-diameter tires.
The ME chassis, introduced as a "Midship Evolution" layout, continues Tamiya's double-shaft motor configuration. The design aims to balance light weight with an ABS-molded structure that delivers rigidity with controlled flex. Bumpers are separate molded parts, assembly follows standard Mini 4WD practice, and low-friction 620 POM plastic bearings are installed where noted to help rolling efficiency.
Cosmetic elements include fluorescent green and transparent smoke parts, silver 5-spoke wheels fitted with the kit small-diameter super hard low-profile tires, and dedicated stickers. The kit ships with a double-shaft motor and a drivetrain set up to a 3.5:1 gear ratio. Power is provided by two AA batteries, which are sold separately.
