18T pinion gear for Super Baja setups

This 18T motor pinion is made for Team Losi Super Baja platforms and supplied as SSB018T. The gear is manufactured in hardened steel #45 for direct motor drive use and is not intended for road vehicle or full-size vehicle use.

This pinion offers a drop from the Super Baja Rey's standard 19T to 18T, changing the final drive ratio to help tune acceleration versus top speed on the model. When installing, position the motor mount to the hole labelled 18T so the pinion lines up with the motor shaft as intended.

Material and fit details: the pinion is hardened steel #45 for improved wear resistance under typical electric motor loads, designed to mesh with the vehicle spur and existing drive components. After fitting, verify gear mesh and motor placement to prevent premature tooth wear.

Included items in the package are listed here for clarity: motor gear - 1 pcs, 5×5 SST screw - 1 pcs. Verify screw length and secure the pinion to the motor shaft using standard pinion mounting practice for the Super Baja platform.

This item is compatible with

  • TEAM LOSI Super BAJA REY 4X4
  • 1/6 4WD XRT 8S-78086-4
The 18T will fit the Super Baja platform physically, but because the stock pinion is 19T you must move the motor mount to the hole marked 18T to achieve correct shaft alignment.
Regularly check the tooth faces for pitting or rounding, confirm the mesh pattern with a thin bluing compound, and remove grit or debris that could accelerate wear.
A suitable hex driver for the 5x5 SST screw, a small bench vise or holding tool for the motor, and a drop of thread locker are usually sufficient; confirm screw size before final tightening.
