Convert a Serpent 960-08 into the 966 Specification
The Serpent 903326 upgrade kit supplies all parts needed to change a Serpent 960-08 over to the 966 layout. The kit bundles a precision chassis plate, aluminum and carbon rear-end components, a dedicated brake assembly, and a complete set of over 170 steel allen screws, plus the necessary new bearings for reliable operation.
High-Strength Chassis Plate Details
The 966 chassis plate is made from American aerospace-grade aluminum 7075 T6 for a strong yet light foundation. CNC machining ensures chamfered edges to avoid interference in tight turns. The plate has countersunk holes for allen screws, a cooling recess under the engine, and mounting points for engine screws and rear brackets, with room for an optional brass front plate or carbon insert to stiffen the front end.
Low-Mount Brake Assembly
This upgrade fits a low-mounted brake assembly to lower the centre of gravity. Spring-loaded brake plates glide on polished steel shafts for smooth action, while a ball-raced, hard-anodized brake cam applies pressure evenly via larger pins set into the aluminum bracket.
Precision 2-Speed Shaft Brackets
CNC-anodized aluminum brackets accurately locate bearings for the 2-speed shaft. They support the ball-raced rear anti-roll bar and work with carbon fibre side brackets to raise overall stiffness and drive consistency.
Sturdy Rear Axle Support Design
Anodized, CNC-machined aluminum rear axle supports improve torsional rigidity and simplify maintenance. The layout allows straightforward belt tensioning and fast access to the rear shaft, pulley and belt, while eccentric inserts give three selectable belt-tension positions for tuning.
Adjustable Suspension Bracket Setup
Machined anodized aluminum suspension brackets secure the lower rear pivot pins. The package also contains 4mm carbon fibre suspension brackets and a rear shock tower offering four shock-angle positions for fine tuning suspension behaviour.
