Yokomo BD12 Touring Platform for Competitive Racing

The Yokomo BD12 represents a major advance in RC touring car engineering, offering a reduced center of gravity and improved stability between pitch and roll. Built with the 2023-24 racing season in mind, the BD12 focuses on usable grip and consistent handling for serious on-road competitors.

Front and Top Deck Innovations

Central to the BD12's behaviour is an updated motor mount that increases pitching rigidity. That layout works with a split front and rear upper deck featuring A.T.F active top deck flex, producing sharper turn-in and more precise lane control. Shorter shocks and bearing-equipped spring holders reduce spring twist and help the suspension act smoothly throughout its travel.

Chassis Tuning and Balance

The chassis design includes a carbon plate to raise pitching stiffness while a 90T spur gear assists in lowering the centre of mass. Moving the motor forward helps centralise weight for improved rotation and straight-line stability. A revised front shock tower and adjustable rear shock angle let you dial handling for a variety of track conditions.

Specifications

  • Scale: 1/10
  • Upper Deck: Split with motor mount integration
  • Shock System: Shortened with bearing-equipped spring holders
  • Front Shock Tower: Redesigned with variable positioning
  • Spur Gear: 90T for lower center of gravity
  • Chassis: Reinforced with carbon plate for rigidity

For racers chasing consistent lap times, the Yokomo BD12 brings a balanced blend of rigidity and adjustability. Its setup range and mechanical refinements make it a strong contender on technical asphalt circuits.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
The BD12 performs best on smooth to medium-grip asphalt or carpet tracks where its low center of gravity and active deck flex can be fully exploited for tight cornering and stability.
Assembly requires intermediate modelling skills; parts fit precisely but you should be comfortable with drivetrain alignment, shock tuning and electronic installation for best results.
High-RPM brushless motors and compact sensored ESCs that allow forward motor placement are ideal. Pair with a low-profile servo and a 2S LiPo pack to keep weight centralized.
Regularly check bearing condition, shock oil levels and upper deck fasteners. Inspect spring holders for free rotation to avoid binding and uneven suspension action.
