RC Shock Fluid Overview

YOKYS200 Shock Oil 200 is a silicone-based damper fluid designed for RC shock absorbers that require a 200cSt damping characteristic. As a tuning component, the oil modifies compression and rebound by controlling fluid flow through pistons and shim stacks, so it is used to refine handling rather than to replace mechanical parts.

Installation is simple: drain the old fluid from the shock body, wipe and inspect the shock shaft and seals, then refill the shock to the recommended level while avoiding air pockets. Compress and extend the shaft slowly during filling to expel trapped air, clean away any excess on the exterior, and confirm seal seating before reassembly. Use a syringe or dedicated oil filler for precise volume control and basic shock tools for disassembly.

Tuning guidance: moving to a thicker oil raises both compression and rebound damping, slowing response and reducing high-speed vibration, while thinner oil yields faster movement and more compliance over small bumps. Use 200cSt as a moderate baseline and then adjust spring rates, piston holes, or shim stacks to rebalance the car after a viscosity change. Test on a short run and tune in small steps.

Storage and handling: keep the bottle capped and stored at room temperature away from dust, label containers to avoid cross-contamination, and clean tools after use. Dispose of used fluid following local chemical waste regulations.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Fill slowly while gently compressing and extending the shaft to force air out, use a syringe for controlled dosing, and tap the shock body lightly to release small bubbles before sealing.
Fill to the manufacturer recommended level for your shock length; avoid leaving large air pockets and ensure the oil covers internal pistons when the shock is at rest. Follow the shock maker's guidance where available.
Basic shock tools, a syringe or oil filler, and a clean workspace are sufficient. Dedicated shock tools make disassembly easier but are not mandatory for experienced users.
