Pitching-Damp Spring Overview

The Yokomo YOKYX-40SS is a purpose-built RC shock spring for pitching-damp style shock assemblies. It functions as a direct replacement or a tuning spring for general R/C shock units where managing chassis pitch is a setup priority. The silver coating offers a clean cosmetic finish to complement model car aesthetics.

Fitting is simple on standard shock builds: remove the shock cap, compress the cartridge as needed, slide the spring over the damper shaft and seat it against the spring retainer or lower perch. Verify correct spring seating and set preload before reassembling to prevent binding or inconsistent travel.

From a tuning standpoint the spring changes pitching behaviour: a stiffer spring reduces nose dive and pitch during braking or acceleration, while a softer spring permits more pitch movement and a gentler initial response. Pair this spring with suitable damper oil and piston choices for balanced setup changes, and confirm handling changes during practice runs.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
It is intended for general R/C shock assemblies configured for pitching-damp use and fits typical shock shafts and spring perches used in those setups.
Remove the shock cap, compress the damper as required, slide the spring onto the shaft, position it on the retainer or lower perch, set preload, then reassemble and check full travel.
The silver coating is cosmetic only and does not change spring rate. Performance is determined by the spring rate and the damper setup rather than the color.
