Adjustable front spring for rough terrain

This RC-scale front suspension spring is intended for off-road use and is supplied under the Yokomo YOKRP-083BK designation with a black finish as shown in the product title. It is offered as a direct replacement spring for front shock assemblies and provides a simple way to change ride characteristics without replacing shock bodies or pistons.

Installation follows standard coil-type shock service: remove the shock cap or spring retainer, slide the original spring off the shock shaft, then fit the replacement spring, ensuring the spring seat and retainer are correctly positioned. Use appropriate shock assembly tools and follow standard RC workshop safety when handling compressed springs and disassembled shocks. This text assumes you are familiar with basic shock disassembly on scale RC off-road models.

From a setup perspective, a front spring affects ride height, initial compliance, and how the front end reacts to weight transfer. Combined with adjustments to preload, damping, or anti-roll hardware, swapping springs is an effective way to tune understeer and front traction on loose or mixed surfaces. Make changes incrementally and record setups for trackside comparison.

For upkeep, inspect the spring for straightness and any coating wear that could bind on the shock shaft or spring seat. Clean contact surfaces and confirm retainers and collars are fully engaged after reassembly. As this is a scale RC part, verify fitment with your shock length and spring seat arrangement before final installation.

Remark :

Remove the shock cap or retainer, compress the spring slightly, slide it off the shaft, and then fit the Yokomo YOKRP-083BK replacement making sure seats align. Use basic shock tools and work on a clean bench.
No specialist tools are needed beyond common shock service items such as a hex driver for caps and a stable clamp or soft-jawed pliers to hold the shock while you work.
Expect changes to ride height, initial bite, and weight transfer behavior. Combine spring swaps with small damping or preload tweaks and test progressively to reach a balanced front-end response.
