Optimized 5.0mm belt for MD3.0 setups

The Yokomo MD-144LW is a 5.0mm wide drive belt specified for MD3.0 platforms and compatible MDR-030 variants, engineered to lower belt stretch and sharpen throttle feel for 1/10 scale electric RC cars.

Versus a stock 3.0mm belt, the 5.0mm profile reduces measurable elongation under load, giving a firmer transfer of motor input to the spur gear. The broader section also reduces the chance of belt skipping and can increase service intervals under normal hobby use.

If your chassis allows a slightly firmer tension setting, pairing this belt with a modest tension increase often produces a noticeably quicker initial acceleration. Balance tension carefully to avoid extra drag from bearings or excessive gearbox preload.

Installation advice: confirm pulley alignment before final tensioning, perform a low-speed engagement check at light throttle, and inspect belt teeth and edges regularly. Replace the belt when fraying or clear elongation appears to keep performance consistent.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
A slight increase in tension is commonly recommended if your tensioner permits, which reduces slack without causing excessive drag; always recheck bearing and gearbox preload after adjustment.
Inspect for frayed edges, missing teeth, or a noticeable increase in free play; any of these signs indicate the belt should be replaced to preserve consistent throttle feel.
