KC10 Pinion Details

This Kyosho CL017 pinion is an RC-scale motor pinion specified as 12T for the KC10 chassis. It is made for KC10 drivetrains that use 0.8M pitch gearing and provides a direct option for changing the final drive ratio to influence acceleration or top speed.

Fitting is straightforward but requires care: confirm the motor shaft diameter and set the correct mesh with the spur gear to prevent premature tooth wear. Verify axial alignment, minimize runout on the motor shaft, tighten mounting hardware without deforming the shaft, and rotate the drivetrain by hand before powering the electronics.

From a tuning perspective, installing a 12T pinion shifts the ratio toward quicker acceleration compared with larger pinions, while smaller pinions reduce load on the ESC and motor. After any gear change, recheck battery, ESC, and motor behavior to ensure reliable operation.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Kyosho items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
It is specified for KC10 setups using 0.8M pitch gearing; confirm your kit uses 0.8M pitch and that the motor shaft diameter matches the pinion bore before installation.
Set a minimal backlash, ensure teeth seat fully across the face, use a marker to inspect the contact pattern, then secure the pinion and recheck mesh after a short run to confirm nothing has shifted.
A 12T pinion alters load and can raise motor RPM under load; monitor motor and ESC temperatures after the swap and adjust gearing or cooling if temperatures climb excessively.
