Mirage F1 Background and Model Summary

The Mirage F1 was developed by Dassault and became a key fighter for the French Air Force from the 1970s onward. Recognisable for its swept wings and powered by a Snecma Atar engine, the type reached speeds around Mach 2.2. This Italeri kit recreates that legacy in precise 1/48 scale for serious model builders.

The set contains finely moulded parts to build several mission variants, such as reconnaissance and ground attack versions. Super decals are supplied to accurately finish one of three selectable liveries, giving builders options for display or competition presentation.

  • Scale: 1/48
  • Decals: Super decals to mark 3 different versions
  • Instructions: Full colour instruction sheet included
The kit stands out for its super decals covering three distinct schemes and well-detailed components that reflect the airframe differences between patrol, recon and strike versions.
This set suits intermediate to experienced builders due to small parts and detailed assembly. The clear colour instructions help those stepping up from simpler kits.
Use thin coats of acrylic or enamel paints and pre-shade panel lines for depth. A fine brush or airbrush will help with cockpit details and camouflage edges.
