The North American F-51D Mustang occupies a storied spot in aviation history, notable for its key roles in World War II and later in the Korean War. Derived from the P-51 Mustang design and driven by the Packard V12, a licensed Rolls-Royce Merlin, the Mustang could reach speeds approaching 700 km/h. The F-51D carried six 0.5 M2 Browning machine guns for bomber escort duties over Europe and later proved effective as a ground attack platform during the Korean conflict.
This 1/72 scale Italeri kit gives modellers a chance to assemble an accurate F-51D Mustang with well defined surface detail and period lines. The parts layout supports a clean build for display on a shelf or as part of a Korean War diorama. Collectors will value the model for its historical accuracy and compact presentation.
