This 1/700 scale full-hull plastic model reproduces the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Mutsu as she appeared in 1942, crafted for collectors and builders who prioritise external authenticity and static presentation.
The real Mutsu was one of the Nagato-class battleships completed in the early 1920s. Built around 16-inch main guns and heavy armor, the class received interwar modernisation that improved fire control and protection. Mutsu later served largely in training and fleet-in-being roles before being lost to an internal magazine explosion in 1943.
The kit concentrates on external hull form and surface detail appropriate to a full-hull display model. The set supplies separately molded upper-deck components and superstructure parts, plus factory-specified metal gun barrels to upgrade or replace the standard plastic barrels. Standard modelling practice applies: remove flash, dry-fit subassemblies, paint to reference colors, and carefully align metal barrels for correct seating.
Full-hull presentation makes this kit well suited to stand mounting or simple diorama basing. Deck features such as planking, lifeboats, and masts are intended for external finishing; internal spaces are not modelled. Rigging, weathering, and aftermarket extras are common additions to refine the finished appearance.
A practical, display-focused full-hull representation of the battleship Mutsu with metal barrels for enhanced gun realism; ideal for modellers interested in exterior accuracy and museum-style presentation.
