This RC-scale alloy shock body is an aftermarket replacement for the HPI Savage 21, supplied under part number SAV13170/SB. It is intended to replace worn plastic or aluminium shock cylinders and to be installed inside the vehicle suspension assemblies only.
The component is machined aluminium designed to increase cylinder rigidity and improve heat dissipation compared with standard plastic bodies. As a replacement shock housing it restores worn units and provides a consistent platform for tuning shock oil and internal components to refine damping response.
Installation follows normal shock service steps: remove the shock from the suspension arm, disassemble the cap and shaft assembly, transfer or renew internal parts as required, fit the new alloy body, then reassemble and refill with your chosen shock oil. Check O-rings and seals for correct seating and replace any worn items to prevent leaks. After reassembly confirm stroke and leak-free function at low speed before full running.
For tuning, alloy bodies change heat transfer and structural stiffness versus plastic bodies; expect altered temperature behaviour over long runs and possible changes in damping feel with the same shim stack and oil. Verify fitment to the Savage 21 mounting interfaces before using in competition.
