The Land-Wasser-Schlepper (LWS) from Rheinmetall-Borsig was a distinctive amphibious tractor used in World War II, created to support military engineers. Introduced in 1940, only 21 examples were completed by early 1941, and the design's limited storage and lack of armor curtailed its front-line effectiveness.
This Hobby Boss 1/35 kit recreates the LWS with attention to its amphibious form and unusual layout. The assembly is moderately demanding, rewarding modelers who take care with fit, seam work and painting to capture its service history in Russia and North Africa.
Once finished, the Land-Wasser-Schlepper model makes a solid display piece for World War II vehicle collections, illustrating both innovative thinking and practical compromises in wartime engineering.
