The Messerschmitt Me 262 occupies an important place in aviation history as one of the first operational jet fighters. Developed by Messerschmitt beginning in April 1939, the aircraft advanced military flight with turbine propulsion. The Me 262 recorded its maiden flight on July 18, 1942, and used two Jumo 004B engines to reach speeds up to 870 km/h at 6,000 meters. Its service ceiling was 11,400 meters with an operational range of about 1,050 kilometers.
The Me 262 A-1a/U5 variant was intended to carry six MK108 cannon, although only a single prototype was completed in this configuration. This kit gives modelers a chance to study that experimental setup and the aircraft's wartime innovations.
This 1/48 scale model by Hobby Boss offers a detailed representation of the Me 262 A-1a/U5, making it an appealing choice for serious modelers and collectors. Its precise dimensions—221 mm in length and 260.6 mm in width—create an accurate small-scale rendition of the aircraft. The kit requires careful assembly with glue and attention to fine parts.
