Hasegawa 40128 — 1/350 IJN Battleship Mikasa Wooden-Deck Waterline Release

This injection-moulded 1/350 scale kit represents the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Mikasa and is issued as a Battle of Yellow Sea edition inside the 1/350 & 1/450 Water Line Series.

The real Mikasa was a pre-dreadnought battleship constructed in the United Kingdom for the Imperial Japanese Navy at the turn of the 20th century. She served as Admiral Togo's flagship during the Russo-Japanese War and participated in major actions of the era, including the Battle of the Yellow Sea and the Battle of Tsushima. Mikasa's layout follows contemporary pre-dreadnought armament and protection arrangements.

The kit concentrates on external detailing suited to a waterline presentation. This release highlights deck finish with a supplied wooden deck part, and the sprue layout supports scale-accurate superstructure and fittings. The hull follows the waterline-series format so it can be displayed alongside other 1/350 naval models without a full-hull base.

Builder notes for experienced modellers: expect many small parts for boats, turrets and mastwork plus fine rigging attachment points. The wooden deck gives an alternate texture to moulded decking; careful trimming and appropriate adhesives will improve the final fit. Complete the build with painting and rigging for an accurate display piece.

Yes. The product package lists a wooden deck component as part of the kit contents for this edition.
It is issued within the 1/350 & 1/450 Water Line Series and is intended for waterline display alongside other ships in the range.
The edition references Mikasa's appearance during the Russo-Japanese War period, highlighting her role around the Battle of the Yellow Sea and subsequent engagements.
Rigging and fine detail enhancements are typically added after assembly; many builders fit thread rigging or aftermarket photo-etched details to raise realism.
