The Kyushu J7W development began as a canard-configured interceptor to meet late World War II bomber threats, with a pusher-propeller arrangement and forward canard surfaces. The prototype J7W1 first flew in 1945, while projected follow-on versions referred to as J7W2 showed planned refinements but never achieved broad operational use before the war ended.

The J7W2 subject presents an unconventional layout with a short fuselage, rear-mounted powerplant and pronounced canard wings. This kit captures that geometry and is supplied with decal options for the 352nd Flying Group. The moulding highlights panel definition and surface detail appropriate to 1/48 scale, while assembly, painting and finish choices remain with the builder.
