This injection-moulded 1/700 full-hull kit reproduces the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Fuso in its 1935/1938 refit configuration, produced for static presentation within Fujimi's range of small-scale warship models.
The real Fuso was the lead ship of her class, rebuilt through interwar modernisations that altered superstructure and armament arrangements. By the mid-1930s those modifications produced the silhouette captured by this kit, a profile familiar to historians and dedicated modellers. Fuso later served during the Pacific War and was lost in 1944; the kit focuses on the interwar refit appearance documented in period sources.
As a full-hull assembly the kit emphasises faithful underwater and above-water hull lines for stand-alone display. Moulding prioritises correct external proportions for main turrets, secondary armament placements, and superstructure massing. Builders should plan for typical modelling tasks: hull seam cleanup, precise deck alignment, and careful masking and painting to achieve prewar and early-war finishes.
Surface relief and part fit drive display realism. Modellers commonly add rigging and small aftermarket brass or resin items to increase fidelity, noting that internal machinery detail is not included in standard full-hull display kits. Consulting reference photographs from 1935 and 1938 will help select accurate paint tones, weathering approaches, and deck finishes.
A faithful full-hull representation of Fuso in her 1935/1938 trim, well suited to display builders and experienced modellers aiming for correct hull form and external detail.
