This 20-tooth hard steel drive gear is supplied as a single pair and is intended as a direct replacement for worn factory gears on Axial SCX10 axles. It is specified for increased material hardness to resist wear during heavy crawling and low-speed torque applications.
The gear transfers torque from the motor pinion into the axle and spur assembly and forms a core part of the driveline. On scale crawlers and trail rigs, choosing a harder steel drive gear helps minimise pitting and deformation when running higher loads at slow speeds.
Installation tips: check tooth mesh and set acceptable backlash after fitting, inspect the mating pinion and spur for signs of wear before reuse, and confirm the gear seats fully on the shaft. Follow standard RC maintenance practices and renew bearings or retaining hardware if any play is evident.
