Role and fitment notes for DP48 spur

This RC-scale spur gear is an 82-tooth DCS unit made for DP48 fitment, supplied as a direct replacement for worn spur assemblies. It suits hobbyists restoring mesh, altering gear ratios, or renewing a tired spur in touring-car drivetrains.

Installation is straightforward for touring-style gearboxes that accept DP48-style spur gears: set centre mesh, check backlash with the motor pinion, and secure the spur using the chassis' original retaining method. Run in the drivetrain correctly and confirm smooth rotation under load before final use.

Tuning impact: fitting an 82T spur changes the overall gear ratio and can be used to favour acceleration or higher top speed depending on motor and pinion selection. After swapping spur sizes, re-check mesh, align the pinion, and ensure bearings and layshaft rotate freely to avoid premature wear.

  • Tip: Rotate the drivetrain by hand after fitting to confirm there is no binding, then perform a low-power run to verify clearance.
  • Tip: Pair the spur with suitable pinion tooth counts to reach the desired ratio without overloading the motor.
Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
It is produced for DP48-style spur mounts; inspect your chassis' mounting pattern and clearance to confirm fit before purchasing.
No special tools are required beyond standard hobby hex drivers and setup tools. Basic measuring tools help set correct mesh and backlash.
An 82T spur alters the gear ratio and will affect acceleration and top speed depending on your motor and chosen pinion; test and adjust to match your setup goals.
