Upper Center Case: Overview and Purpose

This Yokomo SD-302DU upper center transmission case is a machined aluminium replacement housing compatible with D-MAX standard parts. It secures the top half of the center transmission assembly, helps preserve consistent gear mesh, and creates a robust mounting surface for shafts and bearings.

Fitting is straightforward: remove the stock upper case, transfer the original bearings and internal gears, then install the SD-302DU and torque fasteners while checking gear mesh and shaft alignment. Keep original bearing sizes and fastener routes to avoid altering drivetrain geometry.

As a tuning upgrade, the stiffer aluminium upper case reduces flex under load and improves access for maintenance. That rigidity helps maintain gear alignment during hard use and makes repeatable adjustments easier when setting up or servicing on the pit bench.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
The SD-302DU is described for use with D-MAX standard parts and installs using the same bearing and fastener locations as the original upper case, giving a direct-fit replacement in most standard builds.
You should transfer the existing bearings and screws where they match; verify gear mesh after assembly. No special fasteners are specified, but confirm sizes before reassembly to avoid unexpected geometry changes.
A well-machined, stiffer upper case helps keep gear alignment under load and eases access for adjustments, which supports more consistent drivetrain behavior and quicker trackside tweaks.
