Rear Big-Bore Shock Spring Overview

This RC-scale replacement spring fits the rear big-bore shock units used on the Yokomo B-MAX2 and B-MAX4III chassis. The spring is supplied in yellow and is wound to match larger shock bodies and the longer travel typical of big-bore setups.

Fitting is straightforward for anyone familiar with shock servicing: remove the shock cap, swap the spring while keeping spacers or preload collars in order, then reassemble and return the preload to your previous setting before track testing. No special components beyond common shock service tools are required.

As a tuning component the spring adjusts rear roll stiffness and traction, influencing weight transfer through corners and under acceleration. Use spring changes together with shock oil and piston tuning to dial in rear-end balance.

Compatibility

  • B-MAX2
  • B-MAX4III

Remove the shock cap and retain any spacers or preload collars, lift out the old spring, seat the new spring in the same orientation, then reinstall the cap and reset preload. Work on a clean surface to avoid losing small parts.
Yes. You will notice differences in roll stiffness and how the rear transfers weight; expect altered traction and turn response. Make incremental changes and test between runs.
Basic shock service tools are sufficient: a shock cap wrench, hex driver to remove the shock from the car, and a clean work area to keep track of small components.
