This 1/700 waterline plastic kit recreates the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship Nagato as a sea-level subject, designed for static presentation in the manufacturer's waterline range.
Nagato was the lead ship of her class, completed in the early 1920s and fitted with 16-inch (410 mm) main guns. She served as a capital ship through the interwar years and into World War II, underwent 1930s modernisations, and remained in service until the end of the war before being used as a target vessel in postwar nuclear trials.
As a waterline kit, this subject is meant to sit on a simulated sea surface or in a fleet diorama. Builders can concentrate on accurate deck painting, superstructure alignment, and detailed rigging to bring the model to life. Many modellers add aftermarket photo-etched parts and fine brushwork to increase realism. The waterline configuration omits the lower hull so it matches other 1/700 waterline ships for group displays.
This kit gives a compact, sea-level rendition of a historically important battleship and suits static displays, fleet dioramas, and progressive detailing by experienced modelers and collectors.
