48-Pitch 22-Tooth Pinion Overview

This Yokomo YOKPG4822 48 pitch 22 teeth pinion serves as a direct replacement for 48 pitch gearsets in electric RC vehicles. It is offered as a basic pinion option that matches standard 48 pitch spur gears and transmits torque from the motor into the drivetrain.

Choose this 22-tooth, 48 pitch pinion when your setup requires that specific tooth count to reach the target gear ratio or to swap out a worn pinion. Check your motor shaft style and existing spur gear to confirm correct mesh and alignment before final installation.

Installation and tuning notes:

  • Verify motor shaft fit and ensure the set-screw seats properly before adjusting mesh.
  • Use the thin paper method or a feeler to set mesh and prevent excessive backlash or binding.
  • Retighten the set-screw after the initial run and re-check mesh under load to confirm stability.
  • When altering tooth count consider the change to acceleration and top speed and adjust maintenance intervals or cooling accordingly.
Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
Confirm the pinion tooth count and pitch match your spur gear, fit the pinion onto the motor shaft, set a preliminary mesh using a thin paper or feeler, then tighten the set-screw while holding the motor in position. Recheck after a short run.
Basic hand tools suffice: a correctly sized hex driver for the set-screw, and a motor support or small clamp to keep the motor steady during mesh adjustment. A feeler or thin paper helps set accurate clearance.
