This kit is a 1/35 scale injection-molded assembly model of the German Tractor RSO/01, produced for scale modelling and static display purposes.
The historical RSO/01 was developed during World War II as a light tracked tractor able to operate in deep snow and poor roads on the Eastern Front. It used a front-mounted 70 hp V8 petrol engine that transmitted power to the rear sprockets via a propeller shaft. Early production featured a rounded pressed-steel cabin, while later production raised the cabin floor to clear wider snow tracks. The RSO performed roles as an artillery tractor and general transport in difficult terrain.
This model reproduces the post-spring 1943 external layout, including the raised rounded cabin and distinctive cargo bed details. External options such as the canvas frame, wood-pattern cargo bed, and side-mounted snow track fittings are represented on injection-molded parts. Visible mechanical components — including the drive shaft, differential housings and exposed gear locations — are modeled for visual fidelity without implying detailed internal serviceability.
Assembly is by conventional sprue construction with straight-section track segments fitted during build. The kit includes options for the cargo bed with or without a canvas cover and allows the cabin front to be built with or without shutter panels. Clear window parts are supplied along with masking stickers to aid painting. Decals supply markings for two operational schemes from 1944.
A research-based 1/35 representation of the RSO/01 that provides external accuracy and build-time options aimed at display-focused modellers and collectors.
