Rear suspension purpose and fitment

This Yokomo YOKRP-084O Ultra Off-Road Rear Spring (Orange) is an RC-scale rear spring made for the rear suspension of 1/10-class off-road buggies and trucks. It serves as a direct replacement or tuning option to change rear-end behavior without altering shock bodies or mount points.

The spring is formed from corrosion-resistant steel wire and finished in an orange coating to make spring-rate selection and identification easier during setups. As an aftermarket option, it is intended to provide consistent, linear response aimed at improving corner exit traction and mid-corner stability on loose surfaces.

Installation is straightforward on standard shock assemblies: remove the shock cap and spring retainer, replace the spring while keeping any internal shims or spacers in place, then confirm preload and that the spring seats correctly. Always inspect shock shaft straightness and shock oil condition when swapping springs to reduce variable changes during tuning.

Tuning notes: firmer rear springs typically reduce squat and sharpen turn-in under acceleration, while softer springs increase compliance and traction on rough or looser terrain. Make changes incrementally and test on representative surfaces, adjusting preload before switching spring sets. Record setup changes so you can return to a baseline during practice or events.

Remark :
Due to limited stock availability, please notice that some Yokomo items may have to order from the factory and the ready time is around 4-6 weeks. Customer purchases the item is assumed to accept the waiting time which allows us to order directly from the manufacturer if the item is out of our warehouse.
These springs suit 1/10-scale off-road vehicles that use standard shock bore diameters and common rear shock lengths; always measure physical clearance and spring length against your current shocks before fitting.
Not mandatory, but pairing spring rate with appropriate damper oil helps achieve the intended damping characteristics; alter oil weight only if rebound or compression feel no longer matches your handling targets after the spring swap.
Press the spring down against the lower retainer so it sits concentrically around any spacers and along the shock shaft, then fasten the cap and cycle the shock to confirm there is no binding.
