Yokomo B9-S116A piston for refined BD9 short shock control

The Yokomo B9-S116A piston is a targeted upgrade for BD9 high big bore short shocks, developed with AXON input. It uses six precisely placed holes to boost vibration absorption and increase traction. The larger outer diameter adds stability during big rolls and helps keep the rear planted in fast cornering.

Performance notes and setup guidance

Versus the factory 4-hole BD9 pistons, the B9-S116A has larger hole diameters for quicker response and smoother damping. Start by fitting your usual shock oil when you swap pistons, then fine tune by testing heavier oils in the #50 to #100 range to match track conditions and driving style.

The extra holes allow a wider flow range, which smooths small vibrations and improves traction on bumpy surfaces while keeping midstroke control for jumps and hard landings.
Begin with the shock oil weight you currently use on your BD9 setup, then test increments towards #50 or #100 to find the balance between roll resistance and traction for your track.
Installation follows the standard BD9 short shock rebuild process. Check for burrs, ensure the piston moves freely on the shaft, and bleed the shock to remove air pockets after reassembly.
