Will these shims work with aluminum shock pistons?

They are compatible where piston and shock body dimensions match; check piston diameter and G-clip fit before fitting to aluminium shocks.

How do I install the thicker shim under the G-clip?

Remove the shaft and G-clip, slip the thicker shim onto the shaft so it seats under the G-clip, then reassemble and confirm the shim sits flush inside the shock body.

Will these change spring rate or travel?

They are intended to stabilise the damper without altering spring rate; minor changes to rebound feel are possible depending on shim placement.
