The German Sd.kfz.186 Jagdtiger gained attention in World War II as a heavy tank destroyer intended for long-range action against enemy armour and infantry. Development started in February 1943, and by October that year a wooden mock-up had been presented to Adolf Hitler, an important moment in its design history. The vehicle was first referred to as the Jagdpanzer VI before the Jagdtiger name became common.
Two prototype variants were produced with different suspension systems, one by Porsche and the other by Henschel. The Henschel version, notable for its nine road wheels, moved into production in July 1944 after an original December 1943 production target was delayed due to priority given to other vehicles like the Pz.Kpfw V Panther.
The Trumpeter 07254 kit gives builders a chance to recreate the Jagdtiger in 1:72 scale with 92 parts that capture key exterior details. The set includes decals for the German sand/green/brown camouflage, helping deliver an authentic display model.
