The USS Arleigh Burke (DDG-51) stands out in modern naval history, named for Admiral Arleigh Albert Burke. As the lead ship of its class, this guided missile destroyer established a new benchmark in naval engineering. Laid down in 1988, launched in 1989 and commissioned in 1991, the vessel features advanced propulsion and weapons systems.
Trumpeter's 1/350 rendition of the USS Arleigh Burke reproduces the ship's lines and superstructure with precision. At over 439mm long and made up of many finely moulded parts, the kit gives experienced modellers a rewarding build and an impressive display model.
The operational Arleigh Burke displaces about 8,885 tons and can exceed 30 knots, powered by four LM2500-30 gas turbines. Key fittings such as the Mk 41 vertical launch systems and the Phalanx CIWS are captured in this kit to reflect the destroyer's combat fit.
