The Trumpeter 02334 - 1/35 Scale Soviet D-74 122mm Field Gun kit gives military modelling fans a chance to recreate a notable Cold War artillery piece. Developed in the late 1950s for Soviet forces, the D-74 served in both direct and indirect fire roles and remains in service with a number of armed forces around the world, including Sri Lanka, Egypt and Pakistan.
The D-74 is a key example of postwar Soviet artillery design and saw widespread deployment across various regions. Modellers can capture the gun's characteristic lines and mechanical details to evoke the period accuracy of Soviet military equipment.
This Trumpeter kit includes over 240 parts and a single photo-etched fret to refine fine detail. Newly tooled components and rubber tyres are used to enhance realism, and the model is supplied on nine sprues to keep assembly organised. The part count and fine work mean the build suits those with prior modelling experience.
When finished, the assembled D-74 measures 303 mm long and 78 mm wide, making it a prominent display model. Its detailed construction and historical relevance make it a worthwhile addition to a collection focused on Cold War or Soviet-era hardware.
