The P-51 Mustang is a storied fighter that helped turn the tide in World War II. Conceived in 1940 at Britain's request, its prototype was completed in only 120 days, and the Royal Air Force first dubbed it the "Mustang." The P-51 entered frontline service with the 354th Fighter Group of the 9th Air Force in December 1943, and the B/C types saw wide service with the 8th and 9th Air Forces based in England, with detachments operating in Italy and nearby theatres.
The P-51B/C was the principal variant from late 1943 through mid-1944 and remained in action until the war ended. Powered by the Packard V-1650-3, a licensed Rolls-Royce Merlin, this fighter could reach about 708 km/h and had an operational range near 2010 km, giving it both speed and endurance for escort and interception duties.
This Trumpeter 1:32 model kit recreates the P-51B Mustang with precise moulding and a substantial parts count to satisfy dedicated modellers. The kit contains 356 plastic parts plus photo-etched details and rubber tyres, allowing a realistic finished model for shelf or contest presentation.
