The F8F-1 Bearcat represents Grumman's final piston-engine carrier fighter and is prized for its outstanding climb and agility. Powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine, the original combined a powerful radial with a compact airframe to deliver remarkable performance for its era.
Trumpeter's 1:32 kit recreates the Bearcat with a high part count that supports accurate surface shapes and cockpit fidelity. The set contains 366 plastic parts across 15 sprues, plus photo-etched details and a film instrument panel to improve realism. Finished dimensions are a 337mm wingspan and a 264.5mm fuselage length, producing a commanding display model.
The assembly sits at moderate difficulty and suits builders who have tackled a few kits before. The kit includes rubber tyres and markings for VF-19 aboard CV-21 USS Boxer, June 1947, letting you present a period-correct scheme straight from the box.
