The Vickers Wellington Mk.1C was a key twin-engine bomber during the opening years of World War II, built by Vickers-Armstrongs from a design by R.K. Pierson. Its geodetic airframe gave the aircraft strength and flexibility, and this Trumpeter 01626 1/72 kit reproduces those defining features with careful moulding and scale detail, making it a strong choice for history-minded model builders.
The Wellington Mk.1C served in many early RAF missions, with production exceeding 2,600 airframes. Typically crewed by six, it carried eight 7.7mm machine guns and could haul more than 2,000 kg of ordnance. The kit keeps true to the aircraft's proportions, reflecting the 86 feet 2 inches wingspan and 64 feet 7 inches length that enabled long-range sorties at speeds up to 235 mph and a range near 2,550 miles.
This 1/72 assembly contains 192 plastic parts across 10 sprues, giving model makers a detailed build with options like movable flaps and authentic decals for P9245/OJ-W of 149 Squadron RAF, Suffolk 1940. When completed, the finished model presents a compact but accurate display piece that highlights the Wellington's distinctive geodetic structure.
