The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has stood for rugged luxury since 1979, and the two-door G 320 Cabriolet from 1997 to 2001 captures that mix of style and off-road ability. Tamiya has recreated the look and attitude in the 58629-60A radio control kit built on the versatile 4WD MF-01X platform.
The MF-01X chassis is engineered to perform on both sealed surfaces and light trails. A robust monocoque frame houses the gearboxes and a rear-mounted motor for a compact drivetrain layout. Power is sent rearward through a gear-driven system while a propeller shaft drives the front; both front and rear gearboxes include differential gears to help with cornering and traction control.
Batteries mount centrally to keep the model balanced and stable. The 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension with friction dampers soaks up irregular surfaces for predictable handling. Semi-pneumatic rubber tyres feature authentic tread patterns to reinforce scale appearance while providing usable grip.
The MF-01X supports short, medium or long wheelbases using the supplied central spacer blocks and optional propeller shafts for 210mm, 225mm or 239mm setups. The kit includes M-05Ra uprights and hub carriers, and serious tuners can refine rebound and stiffness with Item 54614 M-05 Ver.II Carbon Reinforced L parts.
The Tamiya G 320 Cabriolet on the MF-01X chassis is a flexible choice for modders and collectors who want a scale look and room to tune handling for both road and light off-road driving.
